Our Beef

We are proud to offer beef that is born and raised right here in Wyoming, and goes from our ranch to your table. The "Grass Fed" label you see in stores can be misleading. Grass fed may be used to label meat from cattle that were started on a grass diet but have either received supplemental grain or are finished on a fully grain based diet. In fact, many "grass fed" cows spend the last few months of their lives eating grain in feedlots to help them quickly gain weight. Grass finished beef comes from cattle that ate nothing but grass and forage for their entire lives, most of it spent grazing pasture. Grass finished has a lower overall fat content than grain fed and contains higher levels of vitamins, antioxidants, CLA (conjugated linoleic acid), and omega-3 fatty acids. Grain finished beef uses grains to supplement their diet and make livestock grow bigger faster. Grain fed usually has a higher fat percentage than grass fed, because the grain provides a concentrated source of carbohydrates and calories which increases the amount of fat on the cow. Our cows have a 100% grain free diet throughout their lives. If you order grain finished, we will supplement using COB (corn, oats, and barley) for 120 days.
